Hi everyone! The goal of my site is to share science news in a way that is understandable and exciting to everyone. Science journal articles can be dry and difficult to read if you are not familiar with the jargon, but that doesn’t mean the work isn’t exciting! I hope that my blog posts will entertain and educate anyone who is interested in learning more about what our researchers discover every day, and that these posts will inspire you to want to learn more about the world that we live in!

About me:

My name is Hong Tran, and I am a recent Chemical Biology Ph.D graduate from the University of Michigan. I have always had an interest in science from when I was a child, and I have always had an interest in creative writing as well. My interest in developing medicines to advance health care was what drove me to pursue graduate studies, and it was through that experience that I came to understand how incredibly difficult scientific research is.

As I was growing up, Bill Nye the Science Guy was one of my favorite TV shows to watch. While I was skilled in planning and executing experiments in the laboratory, I felt that my natural skills could be put to better use in communicating science in a way that was both entertaining and educational. This blog is one of the steps that will help me achieve that goal!

My hope is that you will think of me as a friend in your neighborhood–someone you can have a casual conversation with about science! There’s nothing mad or dangerous about science. Science is all around us, and the more we understand about it, the better it will be for us all!
